You walk into the basement with Grandpa. He seems eager to do the puzzle. He unearths it and blows the dust off. It depicts a lake scene with a pair of rowboats. It reminds you of the mayor, who seems to be... part of one. They row around as they have no legs and cannot walk. There are waterways all through the major streets of Giantopolis so that they may get around. You wonder why they can't just... stay in the justice building. Whatever.
You turn your attention back to your grandpa and realize that he has left you behind in his scramble to the living room. You run after him and he excitedly opens the puzzle box over the coffee table.
"Hold on!" you cry, hurriedly sitting down at the coffee table next to him. He tells you a bit about how he used to row a boat across the strip of water that seperated the eastern and western districts of Giantopolis. He mentions how he visited McCafferty one time. He falls silent for a moment, lost in thought and presumably the memory.
You start to seperate the border pieces from the middle pieces of the puzzle while your grandfather thinks. He finally speaks up. "Those people are... Strange."
"What makes them so?" you ask.
"They're shapeshifters. Did I ever tell you the story of Triangle Man and Person Man?"
You stop, thinking back. Have you heard that story? Your grandfather tells a lot of folktales, but usually you remember them. You don't recall ever hearing this one.
Do you want to hear the story?
Listen to the folktale. It sounds intriguing.
That story? Oh, of course I've heard it!
